What usually goes wrong
- Important data is spread across multiple folders
- Manual copies depend on someone remembering
- Local storage does not provide off-site recovery
Protect small-business Windows files and application data with scheduled, encrypted cloud backups. Review backup history and rehearse restores with SaveState.
Small teams often need reliable backup without a dedicated infrastructure department. SaveState keeps the workflow focused: install the Windows agent, select the business data that matters, choose a schedule, and review backup status from the dashboard.
The service is suitable for selected documents, customer exports, operational files, and application data. It is not a bare-metal image. For MySQL and MariaDB, the built-in database workflow invokes the native dump tool and streams a consistent logical export directly into the encrypted repository. Other stateful applications should use their vendor-supported export or snapshot method.
Start with a practical recovery list: the customer exports, documents, project folders, configuration, and database data the team would need to resume work. Assign someone to review completed backups and record how to recover that data, rather than treating installation alone as proof that the business is protected.
Prioritize the data required to resume normal work: customer exports, operational documents, project folders, application configuration, and recoverable database exports. Check that the selected data can actually be restored and opened.
Encrypted backup contents are stored off site in Backblaze B2’s EU Central region in Amsterdam. SaveState encrypts backup contents on the device before upload; the privacy notice and data-processing terms explain the service and subprocessor responsibilities.
Review the completion status, choose a recent restore point, restore a sample to a separate folder, and open the recovered files. Repeat the check after important changes to the protected application or data.
Choose a storage plan, install the desktop agent, and schedule the first protected backup.
